Meet The Artist Behind Our Van Go Print
by Magnetic Me Mar 15 2026
Our one-of-a-kind prints are designed by artists from around the world. For our Van Go print, we collaborated with Athens-based illustrator Elena Topouzoglou, who shares where she gets her inspiration, and why she loves creating artwork for kids brands.

How did you get your start as a print designer?
I don’t come from a traditional print design background. This began as a personal hobby during Covid. I worked in VFX for film and television, but when production slowed, I had more space to draw and paint, which led to experimenting with repeat patterns.
How would you describe your aesthetic?
My illustrations are created with storytelling and pattern in mind, and are well suited for use on textiles. My style tends to balance a sense of playfulness with a more traditional, timeless feel.

Where did you find your inspiration for the Van Go print?
The Van Go print was inspired by a love of simple road trips and the feeling of being outdoors—quiet drives, vintage campers, and small moments of adventure that feel playful and familiar to kids.
What does your process look like, start to finish?
My process usually starts with gathering inspiration and sketching loosely to work out the idea and overall composition. From there, I paint by hand, allowing the watercolor to guide some of the details and texture. Once the artwork is finished, I refine it digitally by cleaning up edges, adjusting color, and preparing the final files so they’re ready to work well as patterns or prints.

What is your favorite part about working with a kids-wear brand?
I love knowing that my work becomes part of everyday moments—clothes that kids actually live, play, and grow in. There’s something special about creating artwork that’s meant to be worn, loved, and passed along.
Who are some of your favorite artists?
I’m drawn to artists who work with a sense of softness and storytelling. I’ve always loved classic illustrators and picture-book artists, as well as contemporary artists who use watercolor and hand-drawn textures in a timeless way. I also find a lot of inspiration outside of illustration, from animation, set design, and film, since that’s the world I come from.
