What’s Magnetic Me’s Mission?

In our short experience as parents to 5 little ones (between our 2 families), we’ve already experienced little boys, little girls, twins, preemies, 3 under 18 months, and all sorts of labor experiences in a few hospitals. Our mission is to help parents in all that we do, from clothes that actually lend a hand when you need it most, to being a resource of information for new parents from our hang tags to our website.

Who is Magnetic Me?

Magnetic Me was founded in 2010 by Lauren, a former investment banker and, Lawrence, a former corporate attorney. The two friends met in college and moved to New York City to slay the corporate world. Realizing they wanted their life’s mission to be helping parents and babies, they co-founded Magnetic Me, bringing their quirky personalities to a great product with fun prints.

How do you ensure quality?

Our high quality fabrics are carefully selected for specific reasons, with baby and parent in mind. For example, our cotton layette is super soft with a premium weight so it withstands all the rigors of use from your first child to your last. Next, we design each garment for maximum ease of use. For example, all of our newborn essentials open down the front so new parents don’t have to worry about a newborn’s wobbly neck. And finally, we’ve carefully chosen factory partners who can bring all of our great designs to fruition.

Where are your clothes made?

Our headquarters are in New York City where our designers, sales and production team members are based. All of our clothing is responsibly manufactured in China. All of our production lots are tested for product safety to ensure compliance with CPSC regulations.

Product & Safety

Will Magnetic Me save me time?

Absolutely! Our magnetic fasteners practically close themselves…your baby will be warm and dressed in seconds!

How does it work?

Magnetic Me has a patented magnetic closure system that is hidden and sewn securely beneath our garment plackets. Since the conception of our idea, Magnetic Me has spent a lot (a lot!) of time and energy perfecting our fasteners. All you need to do is line the magnets up and watch them close.

Does exposure to magnets or magnetic fields cause people harm?

According to the World Health Organization, exposure to static magnets (like ours) in the millitesla range (also like ours) have not been proven to have harmful (or positive) effects on people. For more information, you can research on the internet or email us at onlinesales@magneticme.com.

 

 

Have Magnetic Me clothes been safety tested?

Absolutely! Our products have been independently safety tested by a consumer products safety testing bureau.

Do Magnetic Me products contain lead?

No way! Our products have been thoroughly tested and all of our products meet lead safety standards.

What’s a phthalate and do your products contain any?

Phthalates are chemical plasticizers used in many ways, such as making plastics softer. Magnetic Me products have been thoroughly tested and all of our products meet phthalate safety standards.

What about swallowing magnets?

Our magnetic fasteners are safely sewn into our garments to be inaccessible to infants or their siblings.  The magnetic fasteners have Sew Safe Construction, stitched into our clothes hidden between layers of fabric and would take serious tampering to remove. Periodically inspect seams and fabric near magnetic fasteners. If tears, rips, or loose stitching are found, discontinue use of the product.

What about pacemakers? I heard magnets can interfere with them.

Keep this garment away from pacemakers and other sensitive electronics. This product contains magnets which may interfere with the proper function of these devices.

Do you add flame retardants to any of your clothing?

No, we do not use any flame retardants on any of our garments. The Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) mandates that children’s sleepwear sizes 9-12M and up be either tight fitting OR treated with flame retardants. Magnetic Me follows the tight fitting mandate (so as not to use chemicals on our fabrics). This means that the fit on our larger sizes will be more snug than the fit on our smaller sizes.

 

What are those ‘health’ magnets that I’ve heard about?

This answer comes right from the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory’s website. The National MagLab is a large institution jointly operated for the National Science Foundation by Florida State University, the University of Florida and Los Alamos National Laboratory.

“Since scientists aren’t too fond of yes or no answers, the closest thing we can say here is that there’s no solid evidence that “health” magnets – the kind that some people put in their shoes or pillows and wear on wristbands – have any direct medical benefits.

Companies that sell the magnets claim that they improve conditions ranging from headaches to bedsores to AIDS. Pro athletes have endorsed these magnets, which can be found in many sporting goods stores, drugstores and TV infomercials.

These companies say that modern-day conveniences like cars and asphalt streets separate us from the Earth’s magnetic field, knocking our bodies, from our circulatory systems to our moods, out of whack. Only by adding magnets to the mix, the companies claim, can our bodies receive the benefits magnetic fields provide.

But if this theory were true, then a compass wouldn’t work on a city street! The Earth’s magnetic field is all around us, alive and well, and there’s no proven benefit to carrying around pocket-size supplements to that field.

But there’s always the placebo effect…”

Sizing & Care

Are magnets washer and dryer safe? / Are there special care instructions?

Yes, provided you carefully follow our care instructions (see care labels on each garment as different fabrics may have further specific instructions).  Close fasteners before wash and dry.  In dryer, dry with a full load on low for 30 minutes maximum. Line dry if garments still damp. Use only non-chlorine bleach when needed and do not use in industrial or commercial dryers.

Failure to follow these instructions may result in damage to your garment.

Does Magnetic Me’s clothing tend to run large or small?

Trick question! Running large or small when it comes to baby clothing doesn’t mean a whole lot :). Boys and girls are on different growth charts but baby clothing is cut to the average of both charts. Shipping

How fast are orders processed?

During normal shipping times, we ship within 24 hours of purchase and orders placed before 1pm are generally processed the same day. Orders placed over the weekend are processed first thing Monday morning. Orders placed after 1pm with express shipping will be shipped the following business day. Please note, orders placed during our semi-annual sale can take a few extra days to process. Please take that into account when choosing your shipping option.

When will I get my order?

Most orders are delivered in 3 to 10 business days or less in the continental US. Please note that delivery to Alaska, Hawaii and APO/FPO addresses may take 10-14 business days. Your shipment confirmation email will include tracking information.

Flat rate shipping is by Fedex SmartPost, which is picked up by Fedex and delivered by the USPS. This service can take up to 14 days and can be tracked using Fedex.com.

 

What are my shipping options?

Please account for order processing times before selecting delivery service.

  • Fedex Ground: Contiguous United States, 1 to 5 business days (Alaska and Hawaii 3 to 7 business days).
  • Fedex Standard Overnight: Next-business-day delivery by 3 p.m. to most U.S. addresses; by 4:30 p.m. to rural areas; and by 8 p.m. to residences.
  • International Shipping: For all of our international shipments we use USPS Priority International which can take 6-10 business days to some countries in major markets and up to 4 weeks to others (or longer). Please know that once the package leaves the country we cannot provide any further information regarding delivery other than what is provided in the USPS tracking system. If you have any delivery issues, please reach out to your local postal service. WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY SHIPMENTS ONCE THEY LEAVE THE USA. MAGNETIC ME DOES NOT COVER ANY CUSTOM AND DUTY CHARGES. CUSTOMER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEARING THE GOODS AND PAYING ANY FEES RAISED BY COUNTRY FOR CUSTOM AND DUTY CHARGES.
What if I need to change my order?

Can I place a phone order?

Sure! Give us a call at 917-338-7475 x101. We are here Monday through Friday from 9am EST to 5pm EST to answer any and all questions and help you place your order.

Is your website secure?

Yes, our website is a secure shopping environment where information is safeguarded if you are a registered user. For non-registered users, your information is not held beyond the shipping of the order. View our privacy policy for more information

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept Paypal, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover payments.

Does Magnetic Me include a receipt on my gift order?

Nope, we include a packing slip that includes your gift message but it does not contain pricing info.

What if a signature is required at delivery?

Magnetic Me is not responsible for shipments after they are delivered to customer-provided addresses. If insurance or signature is required, please contact Magnetic Me immediately after order is placed with your order number. Additional shipping charges may apply.

What if I provide an incorrect shipping address?

After an order is placed, Magnetic Me will ship your order to the address as entered. We are not responsible for charges incurred from the return of a package or it’s reship to the correct address.

Where is my order confirmation & shipping information?

All orders successfully placed on our website automatically receive order confirmations and shipping notifications that are emailed directly to the address that we’ve been given.  Please note that if you are paying by Paypal, these emails go to the Paypal email address on file. Please check there if you haven’t received any notifications to your usual email address.

Returns & Exchanges

What is your return policy?

We hope you are ecstatic with your Magnetic Me purchase or gift. However, should you need to return an item that you have received from our web store, you can do so by emailing us at onlinesales@magneticme.com to receive a return form. Returns can be made as long as the item is unwashed and unworn with tags attached in its original, sellable condition. Please provide your Magnetic Me order number, located on your packing slip. Please notify us of your return or exchange within 30 days of purchase. The shipping cost of a returned item is at your expense. We recommend that you use a method that allows you to track the package, as we are not responsible for items lost in transit.  A $5.95 deduction for shipping will be incurred on returns on orders that initially received free shipping.  Our customer service hours are 9am-5pm EST, Monday to Friday. When can I expect my refund?

Please allow 2-3 weeks for your refund. We will send you an email once the item(s) have been received and your refund has been processed.

What if my items are damaged or defective?

If you have a damaged or defective item, email us onlinesales@magneticme.com with the issue you are experiencing and a photo. We’ll take care of you!

I received a gift, how do I exchange it?

We are only able to exchange items purchased directly from our website. If you think your gift may have been purchased from our website, please email us at onlinesales@magneticme.com with your gift givers name and we’ll be happy to check.  If you know your gift was purchased from our website, email onlinesales@magneticme.com with your order number and we will send you a return form. Gift returns will receive merchandise credit to magneticme.com in the amount of the original purchase, which will be emailed to you. Magnetic Me does not cover shipping expenses for exchanges in either direction. We recommend that you use a method that allows you to track the package, as we are not responsible for items lost in transit.
