Giving Back, Giving Forward: Magnetic Me Officially Kicks Off "Heart To Heart" Giving Program With A Special Donation
Magnetic Me officially kicked off a yearlong donation program where we’re giving a year's supply of pajamas to a different neonatal and pediatric cardiac intensive care unit at hospitals around the country once a month. First up, the Cardiac NICU and Cardiac Pediatric ICU at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital. This donation was especially sweet because NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital is one of our hometown hospitals and one of the best in the country.
Magnetic Me's preemie and newborn outfits help parents, little ones, and their medical teams have an easier time in the hospital. The magnetic closures on our outfits work well in the NICU and Pediatric ICU environments where nurses have to maneuver clothing around wires, and outfit changes need to be quick for frequent exams and vital checks. Plus, our happy, whimsical prints bring a sense of comfort and normalcy for parents.
HOW IT ALL STARTED
In 2021, Heather Nichols contacted Magnetic Me to donate outfits to other families in the Cardiac ICU at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital in memory of her son, Adler. We were so touched by her story that instead of a few footies, we gave DeVos a year’s supply!
A DONATION PROGRAM WAS BORN
“Donating to Helen DeVos Children's Hospital to help parents make their days better or brighter or even slightly easier felt amazing and was easy enough to do,” states Magnetic Me’s co-founder Lauren Levy. “I thought, let’s see if we can challenge ourselves to give one donation a month to Cardiac ICU’s all over the country. And challenge ourselves we did! Our team reached out to many top hospitals to see who might want a year’s supply of pj’s and we were delighted by the response.”
Quick to respond was NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital, located in Magnetic Me’s homebase of New York City. On April 26th, the entire Magnetic Me team helped to pack up outfits to get it ready for a hand delivery.
Everyone got to feel all the feels of helping others.
Magnetic Me brought our donation to a grateful NYP team and was lucky enough to get a personal tour of their state-of-the-art facilities.
We also met some of the nurses who care for the newborns and heard their stories.
Magnetic Me’s Heart to Heart giving program has ten more hospitals slated for donations this year. If you or someone you know has an idea for a partnership with a NICU or CICU, please contact email@example.com.
