Whether it's already a family tradition or something you're trying for the first time, baking sugar cookies is a guaranteed fun time - especially during the holidays. Gather your loved ones in the kitchen wearing your favorite Magnetic Me outfits, and don't forget to save some cookies for Santa!

Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups sifted confectioners' sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- edible decorations (sprinkles, frosting in a piping bag, etc.)

Directions:

Cream the butter and confenctioners' sugar together in a large bowl until smooth. Beat in the egg and stir in the vanilla and almond extract. Mix the flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar, then blend into the creamed mixture. Cover and chill for at least 2 hours.

Preheat the oven to 375 degree F. Divide the dough into two parts. On a lightly floured surface, roll each piece of dough out to 3/16" in thickness. Use fun cookie cutters to shape the dough and then place each cookie 1 1/2" apart on greased or non-stick cookie sheets. Sprinkle cookies with plain or colored granulated sugar.

Bake for 8 minutes in the preheated oven until the cookies are lightly browned. Place the cookies on a baking sheet to cool before transferring to a wire rack to finish cooling. Once cool, decorate with edible decorations like frosting in a piping bag and sprinkles for added fun!
