Artist Jill Phillips's newest hobby of growing veggies inspired this print, although she thinks this bunny’s produce was more successful than hers.

Did you know that when you purchase one of our exclusive prints, it's like buying (and wearing) a work of art? You’re not only getting an adorable outfit, but you’re also supporting a female artist or designer who is passionate about bringing art and joy into the world.

Our Behind The Print series gives us an intimate look at the artists who hand or digitally draw prints exclusively for Magnetic Me. We learn about what inspires them and their unique design process.

Today, we talk to Jill Phillips—the incredible illustrator and pattern designer who created our Don't Worry, Be Hoppy print.

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself and your background?

Hello! I’m an illustrator and pattern designer based on the south coast of England, where I live with my dachshund Bertie. I studied Fashion design many moons ago, and fairly quickly into my career, I fell in love with creating artwork for kids clothing. I started my own studio in 2007, and have been so lucky to work on lots of lovely projects ever since.

Q: Where do you get your source of inspiration as an artist?

I find inspiration in nature. I live in the beautiful county of Dorset, where weekends are often spent forest bathing or taking long walks on the beach.

As a complete contrast to the calm of the countryside, I try to visit Tokyo every year, as it’s a place I find so full of creativity and always helps recharge me when I need it!

Q: What was your inspiration for the Don't Worry, Be Hoppy print?

I created this artwork during lockdown when I was trying my hand at growing vegetables for the first time! I’ve become a fan of gardening in recent years, and I’m sure this has had an influence on my work. Though I think this bunny’s produce looks more successful than mine was!

Q: Can you tell us a bit about your design process?

This one was hand painted and scanned into photoshop. It was simplified for the printing process, but I love how it turned out.

Q: How does it make you feel to know this print exists as living art in the world? What feelings or emotions do you hope this print evokes?

It makes me really happy to see my work on products. Even after so many years working in the industry, I still get excited to see how my ideas can come to life!

I hope it will make people smile, that’s all I want when I create art. I want to bring a bit of happiness to the world in some small way.
