Daylight Savings: Prep Your Little One For the Time Change
"Halloween has come and gone. What's the next parenting curveball you have for me, world?"
Next up on the curveball docket, daylight savings time.
Yes, we're all excited to get an extra hour of sleep. But what doesn't make us all happy and giggly? The fact that daylight savings could disrupt your little one's sleep—for multiple days and nights in a row.
Fret not, there are ways you can temper the effects of daylight savings-induced bedtimes and night wakings. We've outlined a few different plans and sleep schedules so you can prepare (or not!) and your little one can adjust.
Remember, no matter what plan you choose:
OPTION #1: START PREP EARLY
A week in advance, push morning wake ups, naps, and bedtimes little by little.
OPTION #2: PLAY CATCH UP
Forget to prep? No problem. You can still help the baby adapt with a post-daylight savings plan.
OPTION #3: WING IT
Sometimes going with the time-change flow & doing nothing at all actually works.
