WHAT IT IS:

TENCEL™ modal is a silky smooth biodegradable fabric that's lightweight, temperature-regulating, and resistant to fading and pilling. 

WHAT IT'S MADE OF:

TENCEL™ modal fibers are manufactured from Beechwood trees that come from sustainably managed forests. 

HOW THE EARTH BENEFITS: 

Forest Preservation

Sustainable forest management ensures the trees can only be felled at the rate at which they can grow back. These forests grow without the use of chemical fertilizers and absorb large amounts of carbon dioxide. They also provide clean water and fresh air, and are home to numerous animal and plant species.

Conservation efforts implement sourcing policies that ensure ancient and endangered forests do not end up in textiles.

Less Waste

Half of the wood used to create TENCEL™ modal is transformed into pulp and other marketable biobased products, while any residue is being used for bioenergy.

By using more than 83% of bioenergy, TENCEL™ Modal production causes around 81.5% less greenhouse gas emissions than generic modal.

Less Water & Energy 

Water and energy are used sparingly throughout the production process, from fiber to fabric, resulting in lower environmental impact. 

TENCEL™ Modal fibers consume on average 97% less water compared to conventional cotton.

100% Biodegradable

The fabric's fibers are fully compostable and biodegradable under soil, freshwater, and marine environments. They offer an effective substitute to fossil-based synthetic fibers that are part of the pressing plastic pollution problem.
